TRACIT cross-sector study of supply chain vulnerabilities to illicit trade - FTZ

Objectives

Objectives

The Transnational Alliance to Combat Illicit Trade (TRACIT) is examining how illicit traders exploit vulnerabilities at critical nodes in global supply chains across multiple industries, with the goal to:
  • identify where illicit practices are common to more than one form of illicit trade.
  • identify where remedies deployed by legitimate actors in one sector might be valuable to legitimate actors fighting illicit trade in another sector.
Findings will be used to elaborate the first ever cross-sectoral Business Report on Illicit Trade that will, in turn, guide the development of targeted solutions to be shared across industries and across policy structures. The Report will complement rather than duplicate existing initiatives in that it will focus exclusively on private sector perspectives and recommendations.

Information will be obtained from businesses operating in the following sectors: agri-foods, alcohol, fisheries, forestry, pesticides, petroleum, pharmaceuticals, precious metals/gemstones, tobacco, personal health/consumer health. Input will also be solicited from businesses that act as intermediaries in the physical or virtual world, e.g. air transport operators, maritime shipping companies, banking sector, online platforms.

Survey structure

Part 1 of the survey asks general questions about your company’s details.

Part 2 focuses on your company’s experience in relation to free trade zones (FTZs).

Part 3 collects observations on how illicit trade in your sector intersects with other criminal conduct, such as money laundering, corruption, organized crime and human trafficking/ forced labor.
