The research undertaken by Transforming Youth Recovery for the 2017 Census and Definitions for Recovery Support in Higher Education includes activities intended to update definitions and descriptions for the services and resources that directly support students in recovery at institutions of higher education.
A census was undertaken to ascertain the number of institutions offering services and resources in the U.S. along with detailed information on services and resources available to students on college campuses. 
The 2017 census data is being made available so that other researchers and institutions can advance the field and strengthen support for students in recovery.
Permission for educational and other not-for-profit groups to download and use census data is granted with the acknowledgment of Transforming Youth Recovery as the source. The content of survey instruments is based on work by sr4 Partners LLC under contract and sponsored by Transforming Youth Recovery.
