El Loco provides tools and a platform that makes it crazy easy for iOS app developers to add the word’s languages into their apps and to keep translations up to date from release to release.
We want to make paying for translation just as insanely easy, and would like your feedback on a brand new approach that would reduce your upfront cost to zero and dramatically reduce the financial risk that is normally associated with adding languages to apps.
In a nutshell, translators have told us that they would be willing to invest their time into app translations, with the hope of earning out a higher rate over time if the app does well in the new market. For the developer, that means no upfront cost for translation, and risk-free entry into new world markets. El Loco would facilitate tracking of app revenue in the new languages and manage the accounting around the deferred payout to translators. More markets, more sales, more money for you!
There would be a two-year translator payment window. A significant portion of the initial revenue from app sales in each new language would go to cover the cost of translation. Once the cost of translation is covered, for the remaining time of that two-year window, translators would share a portion of new language revenue.
We expect that an app with existing sales of at least $1000 a month should earn an additional 10% to 50% more over 3 years, when selling into additional languages.
That's the idea. We haven't built the accounting part nor the translator management part yet. We are reaching out to app developers like you to find out what you think of this pricing model. Thank you in advance for providing us with your opinions via this anonymous survey.
