Family Science Days

Saturday and Sunday
February 13 - 14, 2016
11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Marriott Wardman Park Hotel
Washington, DC

As part of efforts to advance science and serve society, AAAS hosts Family Science Days over the weekend during its five-day Annual Meeting. This event is free and open to the public and seeks to explore the connections between science and society. Through hands-on science activities or shows, science organizations can showcase their programming to the local community.

Please fill out this application form in its entirety by September 7 to be considered. Due to space limitations, AAAS may not be able to accommodate all requests to exhibit. Confirmation of participation will be sent to all accepted exhibitors and shows in September.

Family Science Days is being promoted within Washington, DC as well as the surrounding communities through online and printed materials. If you are interested in learning how your organization can help get the word out about this fun, free, and educational event, please contact Linda Hosler at lhosler@aaas.org or (202) 326-6656.

Exhibiting at Booths

AAAS provides standard booth space at no cost to accepted Family Science Days exhibitors who organize and staff fun, hands-on science activities appropriate for children and family interactions for the entirety of Family Science Days (both Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). Activities should focus on real-world connections between science and society.

Each 10x10 foot booth includes:
  • Two 6-foot draped tables
  • Two chairs
  • One trash can
  • A sign with the name of the group and the booth number
Electricity and internet service are available on an as-needed basis. Please indicate if they are necessary on the form below.

The standard booth space described above is provided by AAAS, and organizations will be asked to cover anything above and beyond this set-up, including their move-in/out expenses and any union labor fees as charged by Hargrove, the AAAS exhibition vendor. Union and labor estimates will be in the Exhibitor Kit provided upon acceptance to FSD. Completion of the Booth Space & Stage Show Request Form does not bind the applicant to exhibit at FSD.

Stage Shows

Organizations can submit a request to host a 20-minute stage show. The stage supports hands-on and computer-oriented presentations, and there is no fee for use of the A/V equipment. Please note, however, that stage opportunities are limited.
