FAQ UCF College Dorm Move Outs

Frequently Asked Questions

I left my belongings in my residence and I am no longer on campus. What are my options?
  • Option 1: The resident can return to campus and pack up their own belongings.  This must be completed by the specific check out date as communicated by the community office (link to contact page)
  • Option 2: Residents can identify a designee to come to campus and have that individual pack and retrieve items within the resident’s room.  Residents will need to communicate to UCF Housing and Residence Life (housing@ucf.edu) the resident’s first and last name, UCF ID Number, and Housing Assignment (Community, Building, Room) as well as, the full name of the designee as it appears on a state issued ID and the date and time this individual will be coming to campus to pack up the resident’s room.  This must be completed by the specific check out date as communicated by the community office (link to contact page)
  • Option 3: UCF Housing and Residence Life has identified Suddath, a University approved third party vendor, to coordinate the packing, storage and/or shipping of resident’s belongings.  UCF Housing and Residence Life does not play a role in the date, time, or costs associated with this service. Residents should work directly with Suddath to coordinate the service. The resident should communicate with UCF Housing and Residence Life (housing@ucf.edu) regarding this option and when Suddath will need to access residential spaces.  Suddath is able to provide storage of resident’s belongings at a secure offsite location with a climate-controlled environment.  Suddath is the only approved vendor to pack, ship and or store items for residents. Other companies will not be allowed access to residential spaces.
  • Residents are asked to register directly with Suddath to assist with relocating your items from the residence and schedule their full room pack.
  • Residents will notify UCF Housing and Residence Life (housing@ucf.edu) of the date and time that Suddath representatives will arrive to gain access to their residential space. The email must include the resident’s first and last name, housing assignment, and confirmation from Suddath.
  • Suddath will notify UCF Housing and Residence Life when entry is needed to access the resident’s space.
Failure to remove items from your residential assignment by the closing date assigned by the community office, may result in UCF Housing and Residence Life utilizing Suddath to conduct a full room pack and the costs associated with this service will be charged to the student’s account.

How do I know Suddath has trustworthy employees so my items will not be stolen?
Suddath is an approved UCF vendor. All Suddath employees have passed Level 2 background checks as a condition of employment to perform these services on your behalf.  A UCF Housing and Residence Life staff member will be present for the duration of the time Suddath packs your belongings.

What happens if I have trash or things I don’t want to be stored or shipped?
Residents will communicate to Suddath any items that can be discarded.  When you register, list items the resident wishes to be discarded. Shipping logistics and costs are determined when residents register for the service and are set by Suddath.
If a resident chooses not to utilize any of the above options for packing their room and returning their room to a welcome ready condition, UCF Housing and Residence Life may utilize Suddath, as well as. Housekeeping Services to conduct a full room pack and clean and the full associated costs involved with this service will be charged to the student’s account.

What happens if I don’t want ANY of my belongings stored or shipped?
Residents can communicate with UCF Housing and Residence Life (housing@ucf.edu) that they have no interest in any of the items left behind in their room.  UCF Housing and Residence Life may utilize Suddath and Housekeeping Services to conduct a full room pack, disposal and cleaning.    The costs associated with these services will be charged to the student’s account.

What if I have items to donate?
Regrettably this as not an option under the current environment. Suddath is not responsible for coordinating donation of items. Residents will need to contact UCF Housing and Residence Life directly for donations.  Otherwise, Suddath will discard these items.

What items cannot be packed or shipped utilizing Suddath?
Any hazardous materials, aerosols, flammable items or perishable items. These items will be safely disposed of by Suddath.  Any items not within the resident’s room (i.e. bikes located outside).

How will my items be packed?
Suddath will utilize boxes and packing materials including bubble wrap & packing paper to keep your belongings properly packed.

Where will my items be stored?
Suddath maintains a professionally managed warehouse in Orlando at 4850 LB McLeod Road. Suddath’s warehouse is a secured and gated climate-controlled facility. Public access is by appointment only. Please contact Suddath directly to set up an appointment.

How does Suddath keep track of my items?
Residents and their belongings will be assigned a unique order number. Each box that is packed and each item that is stored and/or shipped will have a label on it. This label will include the resident’s name and unique order number. This order number is used when the resident’s belongings are “checked-in” at the warehouse. Suddath will note the quantity and type of the items via a warehouse inventory. Then, when the resident’s belongings are delivered back to the resident, you’re the unique order number is used to verify your inventory to be sure the resident receives all of their belongings.

What if I want to store some of my items and ship some of my items?
That option is available. Contact your Suddath representative to make arrangements. Additional pricing applies.  UCF Housing and Residence Life does not determine costs associated with storage or shipping.

I registered for Suddath to pack my room but have changed my mind.
A resident may cancel up until the date of service without a fee. Cancellation on the day of service will result in a $150.00 cancellation fee. Residents should contact the customer service rep who assisted them in the registration.

How does payment work for this service?
Suddath handles payment directly through a secure payment link that will be sent to the resident directly from Suddath.
