Rebuilding Together Greater Des Moines CapacityCorps Application

Rebuilding Together is a housing nonprofit with affiliates in Des Moines, IA, and across the country. Together, we transform the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing our communities. Rebuilding Together's local affiliates and nearly 100,000 volunteers complete about 10,000 rebuild projects nationwide each year. We are seeking individuals who want to get involved and ensure a safe and healthy home for every person in their community. During a 11 month AmeriCorps term, you'd earn a living stipend of $15,000 and an Education Award of $6,095 upon completion of the term. About Rebuilding Together Greater Des Moines
About Our Community As Iowa's capital city, Des Moines is a hub of government action, business activity and cultural affairs. With a Metro population of 456,000, Des Moines is a bustling metropolis. But though we have big city bustle, we're extremely proud of our small town atmosphere. Our community offers quality schools, superb public services, and friendly neighborhoods. The City of Des Moines has an older housing stock, with 61 percent of the units built before 1960. Based on 2000 census data, 52% of City of Des Moines residents are classified as low-to-moderate income, using HUD guidelines. Join our team of dedicated staff who is making a difference in Des Moines! This past year we helped close to 300 homeowners in need through our various programs, using over 1,000 volunteers from our surrounding communities. Can you see yourself managing volunteers, coordinating projects and doing hands on work with small and large home repairs? As we're expanding our special projects, we'll need your input on identifying the right volunteer partners and resources.
