Dear Applicant:
The Washington Mathematics Fellows and English Language Arts Fellows are teacher-leaders who will support district mathematics/ELA improvement efforts. Each regional ESD will support a cadre of leaders (building on existing opportunities that currently engage teacher leaders) as part of a state-wide system who would share in common learning that is consistent across the state.
What is the commitment? Each district sending teacher-leader(s) would commit to sending its fellow(s) for each meeting throughout the year (two meetings in the winter/spring 2013). This includes a state-wide kick off February 26, 2013, and a regional meeting in Spring 2013.
What is the Fellows' role? Fellows will play a key role in two-way communication efforts by giving voice to the state implementation needs. The Fellows will: develop deep understanding of CCSS and use tools to determine the quality of instructional materials and resources; and identify high-leverage practices that support the instructional shifts required for implementation of the CCSS.
How many Math Fellows will be selected? Six Math Fellows will be chosen from each ESD with broader opportunities in Fall 2013. The Math Fellows will receive ESD and state OSPI recognition of this work!
Note regarding ELA Fellows: ELA Fellows cadre for the 2012-2013 school year will be the composed from the existing Statewide Literacy Team. You must be a current member of the Statewide Literacy Team to apply.
Please submit this application before January 18, 2013.
